What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. “Local storage” is a similar browser feature for saving small preferences. Both can be used for everything from remembering settings to tracking people across the web - we only use them for the former.

Our approach

Aelithon is privacy-first. We set no analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of our own, and there are no third-party marketing pixels on this site. The only cookies that may appear come from the infrastructure that delivers the site securely - see “Hosting & CDN” below.

What we actually store

Only what’s needed for the site to work the way you expect, all kept in your browser’s local storage on your device:

• Strictly necessary - consent choice: remembers your response to the cookie notice so we don’t ask again (key: aelithon-consent).
• Preferences - theme: remembers whether you chose light or dark mode (key: aelithon-theme).

That’s the full extent of what we store. None of it is shared with anyone, and none of it identifies you.

Hosting & CDN (Cloudflare & Vercel)

This site is hosted on Vercel and delivered through Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to keep it fast and protected. As a result, the following may be set by that infrastructure rather than by us:

• Strictly-necessary security cookies (Cloudflare): e.g. __cf_bm (bot-management, ~30 minutes) and, if you ever pass a security challenge, cf_clearance. These protect the site from bots and abuse and are not used to advertise to you or track you across other websites.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics (if enabled): a privacy-first, cookieless measurement that reports aggregate traffic (page views, country, device) and does not use fingerprinting or follow you across sites.

These providers act as our processors and have their own privacy and cookie policies. We don’t add Google Analytics, advertising tags, or social tracking pixels on top.

Managing your choices

You’re always in control:

• Reopen the notice any time via Cookie settings.
• Clear the stored preferences through your browser’s settings (clearing site data for aelithon.com).
• Because we use no tracking, blocking third-party cookies in your browser has no effect on how this site treats you.

Changes to this policy

If we ever introduce new cookies, we’ll update this page and the consent options, and revise the “last updated” date above.
